CLIENT NEWS: St. Joseph’s Leads Alternatives to Opiates Push

WSW client St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 28 for their Emergency Department’s New Alternatives to OpiatesSM (ALTOSM) program. The unprecedented gathering highlighted the need for safe, effective alternatives to the widespread use of opioids in hospital emergency rooms.

Menendez-QuoteIn the face of a growing national opioid abuse epidemic, St. Joseph’s is implementing this highly successful unique alternative approach to acute pain management without the use of opioids and the potential addictions associated with opioid use. The hospital’s initiative is reportedly the first of its kind in the nation.

To mark this exceptional occasion and to discuss other ways to combat the opioid scourge, WSW worked with St. Joseph’s to convene a roundtable discussion with local, state, and federal stakeholders, featuring Senator Menendez, Senator Booker, and Congressman Pascrell.
