WSW Secures Funding for Kean University through the Federal Appropriations Process

WSW was hired by Kean University and the University’s John S. Watson Institute for Urban Policy and Research to secure funding through the federal appropriations process.
Each year, WSW works collaboratively with the University to identify and develop eligible, competitive and worthy projects, prepares all required materials on the University’s behalf, and engages directly with Members of Congress and the House and Senate Appropriations Committees in support of the Universities requests.
Some examples of projects that have been funded include $1 million in support of Kean’s Generation-2-Generation (G2G) Parent University, a two-generation (2Gen) higher education program and resource center for the parents and caregivers of middle and high school-age students, and $750,000 for the School of Public Architecture and Watson Institute to engage the residents and several community partners of the distressed Coalport neighborhood in the City of Trenton, in Mercer County, to develop a revitalization plan and $2 million to renovate a vacant City-owned industrial building in the Coalport neighborhood to create a mixed-use facility that will advance economic development in the area.
