Windlift is an advanced manufacturing small business based in Durham, North Carolina. WSW has worked with the company since 2018 supporting annual appropriations requests for the Department of Defense Research and Development accounts.
Over the years, WSW has been able to secure over $20 million in defense plus ups for operational energy programs utilizing the company’s unique tethered UAV platform. Current iterations of this UAV system are being tested in northern European environments for remote sensing and early threat detection. Additionally, the company recently was granted an option to bid on future projects pertaining to the Administration’s Golden Dome missile defense and early warning initiative.
In addition to providing support through the Appropriations process, WSW has worked to develop strong relationships with the North Carolina delegation. These relationships proved critical, during a period of transition, as the program moved from a small US Marine Corp SBIR office to the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy.
