When the government puts money on the table to fund transportation solutions, a fierce and complex competition begins. WSW teamed up with a county and its partners to pursue a multi-million dollar Department of Transportation TIGER grant for port and rail improvements. Guiding private and public sector team members through Congress and the Executive Branch meant successfully explaining the regional economic benefits of proposed infrastructure upgrades. Out of a pool of 828 applicants, the county was one of just 46 selected, receiving a grant totaling $18.5 million—the second highest TIGER award that year.
