Laura Lay

Laura Lay, a native of Washington, DC, graduated from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania, then interned on Capitol Hill for the House Democratic Leader before joining WSW. She currently resides in Bethesda, Maryland with her husband and young son.

Laura has been part of the WSW team since 2002. She has extensive experience managing “Days on the Hill” and grassroots activities on behalf of a variety of coalitions and associations.

Laura has built the WSW competitive grants practice from scratch.  For over ten years, Laura has been working with WSW clients, including institutions of higher education, counties and municipalities, hospitals and healthcare systems, museums and nonprofits, to maximize federal funding opportunities through the federal competitive grants process.  Each year, Mrs. Lay assists our clients with dozens of grant applications including guiding them through the ever-changing landscape of seeking federal funds, and identifying, writing, editing and submitting proposals that have resulted in securing millions of dollars in funding.

Over many years, Laura has built relationships with a wide range of program managers at various federal departments and agencies that administer competitive grants, providing a unique resource to clients seeking competitive funding. She is also an active member of the Grants Professionals Association, the premier membership organization of grant professionals, and the National Capital Area Chapter.  She has also has attended numerous grants training workshops and seminars to keep up-to-date on strategies to help grants clients succeed.
