WSW Secures Over $10 million in Multiyear Grant Funding for Seton Hall University

For several years, WSW assisted Seton Hall University in Essex County, New Jersey, in expanding its capacity to seek and receive federal competitive grants. WSW worked with all University schools and dozens of faculty as part of a comprehensive initiative to increase the rate of applications for federal competitive grants and awards received by Seton Hall University. In support of this effort, WSW conducted a series of seminars in conjunction with the Deans of several of the University’s schools in which WSW oriented faculty to the opportunities that exist in the federal government to support their research and areas of inquiry and how they can apply. This has been a critical means of raising awareness of the opportunities of competitive federal grants, making them more transparent and easier for faculty to apply. WSW combined this introduction and outreach with intensive follow-up for interested faculty that included identification of grant opportunities based on a faculty member’s area of expertise or intended research, facilitation of meetings in Washington with program managers at Federal Departments and Agencies to familiarize key decision makers with the programs and faculty at Seton Hall University, and assistance in every stage of the grant submission process including organization of materials for a grant, assistance in writing or editing all narrative components of their grant applications to ensure responsiveness of the proposal to all requirements of the notice of funding availability, and all appropriate follow up. Over time, WSW helped Seton Hall University build its capacity and interest in competitive grants across several colleges at the University. As a result of this grant capacity building effort and providing an array of grant services, over a five-year time period WSW assisted Seton Hall University in applying to and securing over $10 million in federal grant funds.
